WALTHAM, MA—March 11, 2008-Ira Keller, president and CEO of Lewtan Technologies®, Inc., provider of asset-backed securities surveillance data, analytics, software, and content for the global securitization industry, today announced the appointment of Thomas Karanian to the new post of senior vice president of technology and data operations. Karanian retains his title of chief technology officer (CTO).

Karanian has been responsible for overall corporate technology strategy and direction, and for managing the technology components and initiatives that create value for Lewtan and its customers. Now he has assumed oversight of Lewtan’s critical data services department.

“The teamwork of these departments—data services, development, and operations—has long been key to Lewtan’s success,” said Ira Keller. “By combining them into a single organization under the leadership of Tom Karanian, we are formalizing a long-standing collaboration, better positioning Lewtan to provide relevant products and services to our customers, and recognizing Tom Karanian’s ongoing contribution to our success.”

“To give our customers the information they need to run their businesses, we must have up-to-date, accurate data that can be presented in a number of useful formats,” said Karanian. “Tightly integrating data operations with technological initiatives makes Lewtan nimbler and more effective in meeting market demands and customer needs.”

Seasoned in Technology Management
Thomas Karanian joined Lewtan Technologies in 2005. Prior to this, he was an officer and vice president of engineering and services of NewsEdge Corporation (originally Desktop Data). He was a member of the executive management team that guided the organization through the successful sale of the company to Thomson Corporation.

At Thomson, Karanian served as vice president of technology for Dialog and was responsible for all technology-related functions, product development, and content development for the company’s news content business. He also worked for several years at Lotus Development, where he managed quality-engineering groups in the spreadsheet division.

Karanian earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts.
